The first photo taken in Montenegro is a daguerreotype of a girl, which is kept in the National Museum in Cetinje. Although it is not possible to determine with certainty the exact date of its creation, it is assumed that it could have been recorded in the period from 1845 to 1855.According to preserved notes, it is known that the first photographic camera was brought to Montenegro by bishop Petar II Petrović-Njegoš. His interest in daguerreotypes began in 1845, when he was introduced to this new invention in the studio of the painter Anastas Jovanović in Vienna.
