The Njegoš Museum - Billiards was founded in 1951 in the former residence of the Montenegrin ruler Petar II Petrović Njegoš, which was built in 1838. When the Cetinje Monastery became too tight to accommodate all state institutions, Njegoš built a new building in the immediate vicinity. Billiards got its unusual name from billiards, Njegoš's favorite game.
The permanent exhibition of this museum is dedicated to Njegoš's life and creative work and contains his personal belongings, works of art, as well as his library and manuscripts, the most prominent of which is the original manuscript of the Mountain Wreath. The museum also contains space adapted for temporary exhibitions.

We denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized.
