The exhibition of artworks from the children’s art competition on the theme “The World Spins Around My Head”, organized on the occasion of Njegoš Day, the national holiday of culture, will be opened on Wednesday, November 12, at 11 a.m. at the Montenegrin Gallery of Art “Miodrag Dado Đurić” in Cetinje.
At the opening, awards will be presented in all three age categories.

For the third consecutive year, the National Museum of Montenegro has organized an art competition dedicated to the life, creative work, and spiritual legacy of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, one of the most significant figures in Montenegrin history, literature, and culture.

This year’s competition was open to three age groups:

  • preschool children and pupils up to the 4th grade of primary school (ages 4–10);

  • pupils from 5th to 9th grade (ages 11–15); and

  • high school students (ages 15–18).

The aim of the competition is to encourage creativity, artistic expression, and a love for fine arts and the cultural heritage of Montenegro, as well as to connect the youngest generations with the spiritual and aesthetic values embodied by Njegoš.

The selected artworks, chosen from a large number of submissions, testify to the richness of children’s imagination, sensitivity, and their unique perception of the world. The theme of the competition proved to be a powerful creative impulse, gathering diverse and imaginative artistic expressions from children and youth. From the youngest participants—who enter the world of colors and forms with sincere curiosity—to the older ones, whose works reflect a more mature sense of composition, form, and rhythm, all succeeded in conveying their personal interpretation of this famous verse by Njegoš in an original and inspiring way.
